Just Fussy, or something to worry about?

Sorry to keep coming back for advice, I'm just so stuck.

Sunday I restocked on Gourmet pouches and also bought some HiLife Potty about Gravy.

Since then - 3 feeds - I have put a little of the 'Potty about' in with his usual food and mixed it up. And he's actually eating less each time, some of the first lot, just a few mouthfuls of the 2nd (and usually overnight he finishes whatever is out), and then none as far as I could tell that was out this morning. He has dry out too, which he tends to leave alone mostly if he has actually eaten his wet food. He has eaten a fair bit of dry and then I offered him a couple of pieces of cooked chicken at lunchtime which he took. But he's now not touching the regular, usual, nothing-new-mixed-in food, and his favourite tuna flavour at that.

He's been very vocal all day - I wish I knew what was wrong! There are roadworks outside, which might have been making noise this morning and annoying him, I've been out so I'm not sure, and next door were doing some hammering too when I got back home this lunchtime.

Do you think I should be worried or is he just kicking up a fuss at his food being messed with?

He hasn't pooed all day either He's being a bit withdrawn but he did just have a big long play with me with the laser pen running all round the house, upstairs and down. Was hoping that would stimulate his appetite as it usually does, but still nothing. Constipation??

I know how worrying it is when your cat wont eat, my girl has always been very fussy and will cry for food then just walk away when its put out.

I will say that if your worried then its always worth a trip to the vets, if nothing else than to put your mind at rest that there is nothing wrong and kittie is just being fussy

Shyboots hi,

When i first got Indy i changed her food as she was on felix and it gave her a little constipation...took her to vets and he could feel the poo in her stomach

One dose of lactulose and within the hr she had pooed. Could be something simple. Go back to vets to put your mind at rest

Keep us posted

Re: Just Fussy, or something to worry about?

He ate some wet food this evening, but I'm afraid to try again another food. On the other hand just feeding the one brand the whole time isn't ideal.

How can I get him to try something new?! He's just not taking any different wet food. When I tried mixing in Grau and Smilla he did the same thing, just left it pretty much. Even a tiny bit! I tried putting in water, warm water, to make "gravy" too and decided I would have to try other gravy foods. I'm keen to get him on something that's healthy.

His previous owner said he likes 'oh so fishy' and Felix, I haven't tried Felix but I did try the 'so fishy' stuff and actually he wouldn't take it! Plus that's more fish.

Is it worth trying some Felix ones with gravy, purely to get him on more than 1 brand? I was so pleased to see the Potty About ones as they look quite close to what he's used to and are by HiLife which seems a good brand. The mixing a small amount thing just doesn't seem to be working.

Hi

My cat is fussy eater too so I understand your frustration. I never know what she would like, last Sunday I gave her tuna ( that was her favorite) and she just walked away:confused. Have you tried Bozita chunks in gravy? My fussy lady really like it.

Not yet, I'm a bit dubious as to whether he'd take big chunks like that, but heck I'll try anything! It is progress he would even try cooked chicken from me, he has previously given me a look of disgust and I've offered him chicken and fish, tried the chicken warm and cold! OK have your processed junk, lol! What can you do?!

Re: Just Fussy, or something to worry about?

I've always had problems with Molly being a fussy little madam! I tried all the 'recommended' good food, and she turned her nose up at them all. I now feed the gourmet range, and tbh there is still some of the flavours she turns her nose up at! But she does eat most of them She also has now turned her nose up at Orijen dry food, and will only eat whiskers

I see it like this .... as long as she is eating, pooing, weeing, playing, then she must be ok. I know it's not ideal but then there's lot of food I dont eat and I turned out ok

Of course if you are at all worried, then obviously consult your vet
honeysmummy and MoggyBaby like this.
