scabby head!

Hi my cat has scabby lumps in front of both ears, which look like horns growing! Vet has precribed antibiotic and antihistamine. but is at a loss as to the cause! not fleas, ticks, mites etc? doesn't scratch. eats expensive wet cat food plus dried. 18 months old dsh.
Any ideas?

Re: scabby head!

Maybe if you posted a pic it would help.

Re: scabby head!

Have consulted the garden centre for dodgy plants....suggested harvest mites. Research suggest they fit the pattern! Waiting for reply from vet now!!

Re: scabby head!

Some form of allergy would have been my first thought and I'm assuming your vet is considering this hence the antihistamines, albeit I would have expected itching if that was the case

What dry food is he eating?

Yes, a picture would be useful. Do you mean the inside of her ears?

Agree with Ali about the allergy and itchiness. Looks as if vet is trying to cover all bases though. Not heard about harvest mites for ages.....is it not a bit early for them though?
