frozen minces pets at home

my pets at home sell a variety of frozen blocks and minces made by prize. Are they any good for cats? Mine are only supplemented with it as they eat grau etc also.

Thanks

Re: frozen minces pets at home

Well how funny. I have been to Pets at Home today and also saw the frozen minces. I was going to ask the same question.

Re: frozen minces pets at home

Prize Choice minces are pretty much just minced meat, nothing else. They claim there may be up to 4% bone per 100g, but that appears to just be by default and not on purpose so I wouldn't guarantee that.

I would suggest only feeding on the odd occasion.

Would it be ok to feed it if you were to add heart/liver/veg chunks & the odd chicken wing? My local store sells Prime and I got really excited when I found it

Can you not order some of the complete minces that are available? I used to give them a bit of prize choice but theyre not complete so I switched to Natural Instinct

Can I ask how much this costs per day per cat? We have three and I'm a bit worried about how much I'm going to quote to my husband! We may have to stick to quality wet food...

Are they over a year? I think the guideline on NI is 4% of the cats weight and I think thats ROUGHLY (very roughly) half a pack per cat a day which is 200g. So you'd be looking at roughly £1 a day per cat. Mine are still kittens and eat half a pack a day plus wet commercial food. I think that Hobbs doesnt recommend feeding the minces in isolation, so I feed HQ wet too

One is 14 months but dainty and the other two are nearly 16 weeks so at the moment it may be the equivalent of 2 small/medium adult cats! Do you feed less than 20% raw? I keep changing my mind about what to do. One day I'm thinking Prime with extra chunks of heart/liver/veg plus chicken wings/necks as the guy in the pet shop advised this, the next a HQ wet food like Orijen or Grau and some minces/wings. It's hard to decide but I want the best for them whilst considering cost as we're in a tight spot for a while and will need a few thousand for an independent midwife in a few months!

Re: frozen minces pets at home

I think I feed roughly 50% raw. Perhaps a bit more, but the minces are 'complete' according to the manufacturors, whereas Prime Choice isnt. I dont think you could feed more than 20% of the diet on just prime choice.

The little ones should be able to eat as much as they can so the feeding requirements dont apply to them. Do orijen do a wet food? I didnt think they did...
