Fur balls & raw food!

Hi All

I have read on a few websites that feeding a raw diet can help with fur balls, is this correct & has anyone noticed once changed to this diet?

I am down to my last two cats (had 8 at one time!) they are getting on a bit, Tinker is just about 16yrs old & Jess will be 14yrs in september,

They have always been fed a mixture of tinned & dry plus the odd chicken wing when I feed the dogs,

They are both healthy but they throw up an awful lot, not food, its like fluid with fur in it, sometimes lumps of it & it seems to be getting worse as they get older,

Any thoughts? they are both house cats

Yep. No furballs and proper carnivore scat.

To be honest it didn't make any difference to Misi, whose been on a raw diet for 3 years. She's mega-prone to hairballs and although shorthair, I have to keep right on top of her grooming sessions. Simba, on the other hand, semi-longhair, hasn't had any hairballs as yet and he's been on raw since I got him at 3 and a half months last December.

Re: Fur balls & raw food!

Much appreciated I've dug my furminator out & will give them a go over with that later, I'll be honest I don't very often groom the cats as they have always done such a good job themselves but perhaps now they are older they aren't quite as good at it as they used to be!
