Tescos Just Nature

Has anybody else come across this food? I am at my wits end trying to persuade my kittens to eat Bozita, Grau, Schmusy etc and they have refused point blank and gone on hunger strike and refused to eat the Applaws/Porta 21/raw mixed in with it that they previously loved. In desperation I bought a box of these pouches yesterday and one of them at least has just wolfed it down....... the other one is still being very sniffy and pleading for her dry food back

The food is apprently without dairy, wheat or preservatives and has 81.% moisture, 10% protein, 5.5% oils & other fats, 2 % ash and 0.5% fibre. The chicken ones have a minimum of 14 % chicken & the fish have the same meat levels

Re: Tescos Just Nature

Have they changed the recipe lately or is there a difference between the pouches and the trays? If you look on the A-Z under Tesco and Just Nature, they once declared a meat content of min 60%.

I don't shop in Tesco, avoid it like the plaque, so am not up to speed with their latest food developments. However, always appreciate hearing from people who shop there and who read labels

Being a complete numpty as it didn't occur to me to look under tescos! It is branded as being new and is in pouches. The only one that seems to have any obvious filler is the turkey and brown rice.

Re: Tescos Just Nature

Lol, don't worry hun. Can you do me a favour and post the ingredients of the pouches here (you have already posted the analysis so that's good) and next time you are in tesco (or next time you shop online...) can you check whether they still sell the trays and if yes, whether they still declare the 60%? Thank you!

Re: Tescos Just Nature

Hello,

I bought the trays the other week, but whilst my kittens liked the food, it gave one of them an upset stomach so I have switched. Would be interested to know how your kittens get on with the pouches.

Re: Tescos Just Nature

Hey Caroline, just out of interest, did you introduce the new food gradually or did you just offer them a plate of the new food instead of their normal food? Sometimes a runny bum is not because of the food per se but because of the way it has been introduced. Slow food introductions are particularly important if you are introducing them to some better quality food. Well, I am not saying that the Tesco Nature trays are high quality but they will contain more meat than Felix/Whiskas in Jelly.

Re: Tescos Just Nature

Hi Hobbs,

We've been trying to introduce gradually, but I think sometimes we aren't quite so gradual....

They were on the hi-life for 3 days and were perfect. We happened to buy a full 48-pouch box of Natures Menu though and ran out of the hi-life on Sunday. Natures Menu will be on the 'menu' for a while now and will be the food of choice if it agrees with them. I guess we made the fatal mistake of only buying a few pouches/tins of each, which isn't really enough but we were paranoid about buying a large amount of something that really didn't agree with them.

Hermione tends to tolerate the changes because she doesn't have a huge appetite, whilst Hunter just gets greedy and almost 'binge eats', not thinking about the effect it might have on his stomach. Lol.

We're picking them up from the vet this afternoon after their little neutering ops and microchipping.....at least they'll be on the same food now for a good while. Just hope they aren't too groggy.

Caroline

Re: Tescos Just Nature

We had our girls on the little square gold trays before moving over to smilla and then raw. I found them great on it, and they did like it. Only trouble was the limited choice, I think there were only two flavours then.

This one Tesco Just Nature Cat Pate Turkey And Rice 100G - Groceries - Tesco Groceries and this one Tesco Just Nature Cat Pate Lamb And Rice 100G - Groceries - Tesco Groceries right?

EDIT: ingredients on the turkey and rice one:

EDIT 2: was just pipped to the post on ingredients!
