Re: flea treatments
I don't treat my indoor cat at all, I have a flea comb which I comb her with every couple of days. If I found a flea or any flea dirt I'd treat her then, to date I never have. I don't see the point in putting chemicals into cats unnecessarily.

Re: flea treatments
Agree with the others! I only treat as and when necessary and mine are indoor/outdoor. I found in the past we were relatively flea free but in recent years it appears there are definitely more of them about!
Frontline is virtually useless now with so many fleas become immune. I use Advantage at the moment since I've lots left over from last summer. Advocate is also very good. I've found Stay-Kil very effective for treating the environment. It's available online and you only require a few sprays in each room with good results. |

Re: flea treatments
My cats are under 4kg atm but are likely to get bigger esp rogue.
Do i buy the large 4-8kg or under 4kg? Would the larger dose hurt them? As i would buy to last them the year |

If a flea jumps on an 'advocated' cat, they're dead. If the cat comes into direct contact with Larvae, Pupae etc... they are dead, this effect lasts for a month. The key to advocate is that it lasts a month (although since using it, the only fleas we've had were from a new kitten) most other treatments only last 24 - 48 hours so you have to get all fleas within that period. It is effective enough that when my cat went to stay at a friends house who had a small flea problem with her two cats, after two weeks I picked our cat up and my friend said that she hadn't combed a living flea from her cats for the last week. I swear by the stuff and I have never sprayed the house, and never will. Just make sure that you comb and hoover everyday for a couple of weeks, if anything just to pick up all of the dead ones. >> You'll be fine with the 'under 4kg', don't use the other one if you only have small cats.
