I haven't quite caught up with some of the threads. Oh bless him, thank goodness is wasn't FIP! Does this mean it will be a bit trial and error until you find a food that suits?

Am just on zooplus myself, I seem to spend my life on there or on here lately Am just checking out Porta 21 - which claims to have a good calcium-phosphorus balance.

Re: CRF feeding - can you feed too much?

Hey, some good news all round here!

Cazzer, so glad Karlo hasn't got FIP!!

Jayne, watch Porta 21 because some if not all the range isn't actually "complete". The fat and taurine levels are really low, too low to be considered a complete food. I heard rumours they were going to change their labelling. Shame, because otherwise it seems great. You could always add goose or duck fat to it, I suppose. That would put hairs on Oscar's chest

Ianthe, Misi's eating much better. Still grinding but today less so. She's favouring eating on the left side of her mouth and seems to be soldiering on with it. I'm giving her a couple of homeopathic remedies, so we'll see if that makes a difference. I've also found a local holistic vet I might try and take her to see. She needs a different set of eyes to look at her and someone who's less likely to say "cortisone" as soon as they see inside her mouth.

Thanks both. I couldn't believe it when Kate told me! Would never have thought IBD though as his symptoms have been so different from Oska and Sasie's.

yes its a bit worrying as he has a grain free diet [bozita, lilys kitchen and origen] apart from a bit of rice in Grau. Vet does not want to put him on steroids as he is a baby [whereas the other two are in their teens]. It may be of course nothing to do with his diet!! Just had a huge delievery of cat food as well from Germany as well.

I think I spend more time on sourcing cat food than I do on ours!

Misi hope your girlie carries on eating well. Good luck with homeopathic vet

Thanks for the heads up. It's one of the ones at the top of the non-prescription food list on Tanya's website for being low in phosphorous, but will check out the other ingrediants. Might just stick to some of the others on the list as he's certainly eating them

I love zooplus, but sometimes I wish you could buy a single pouch or can to try rather than having to purchase a bigger quantity When Oscar was first diagnosed we must have spent close on £200 on various foods

What do you feed Misi on? Glad to hear the grinding has lessened. Did the vet discover what was causing it?

Right with you there, but once you find something they'll eat, they're so much cheaper than most other places.

I bought a job-lot of food from Zoobi, a German site: Bozita tetras, Granatapet, Mac's, Tiger. She doesn't like the Granatapet, isn't keen on the Mac's, likes the Tiger sometimes and likes the Bozita. It all depends on how her mouth is as to what she wants to eat. It depends so much on texture. I just bought some other stuff from Zooplus and got some different Bozita tetras and Beaphar and Kattovit, 2 renal foods. So far, so good. When she wasn't eating, I gave her Royal Canin Recovery to give her a boost. I normally stay well clear of Hill's and Royal Canin and the like, but she needed some sloppy "kitty crack"!! I add a phos binder to the normal foods only. Her phos level was normal however, at her last test and always has been. She was a raw-fed cat before all these mouth problems, and she really misses it. When she's up to it, I give her raw chicken and poussin.

As for her grinding, between a friend of mine, whose cat did the same thing, and the situation in her mouth, we've come to the conclusion it's probably tooth-related. We're going to get the opinion of another vet, hopefully.

I bought the Bozita taster pack (pate) and he wouldn't touch it, mind you that was when he was being a little bugger with his food. I keep looking at the Beapher and Kattovit but not sure whether to try it.

He's being a bit strange with what his food comes out of at the moment, for some reason he will not touch anything that comes out of a can, and will only eat food that comes out of pouches or alu trays Mind you it is easier to mix the binders into the food when its still in the pouch.

Good luck with the grinding, I looked at the video you posted, it sounded horrendous!
