Re: Good quality shreaded wet food?

Have you tried introducing different textured food in VERY slowly, and I mean very ... about 2 weeks? Like maybe a teaspoon full at a time, gradually increase the new food and decreasing the old food?

Or even try shredding/dicing some raw chicken up?

Scratching by the bowls might also be a bowl thing. If the bowls are plastic/melamine over time they become porous. It could be that the food they like is ingrained into the pours and they don't like the combined smell of that with any new food. Just a possibility

In his case, he scrartches the floor when he doesn´t like the food because with the ones he likes he doesn´t do that. He is just very clear on his opinions. I have even tried adding tuna on top of the new food, although after donating all the tins, I kept about 4 of Merrick and he has almost eaten 2 of them (after just walking away each time I tried). Atleast the rescue cats are enjoying them.

the black feline fayre is supposed to be complete and is available in Asda, Morrisons, Home Bargains and BM Bargains if you want to give that a go.

Re: Good quality shreaded wet food?

The Smila fish cans have more of a shredded texture than a pate one - Timothy hated the texture (but loves pate) and I ended up giving the cans away, but you might find them ok.

oh lol one of mine does this too

mine have also gone through all different brands of chunk food (how do they know the difference between whiskas and felix!??) and turned their noses up, pate/terrine they wont even consider and anything in gravy just gets licked

i have wasted sooo much money that i have pretty much given up and will now be sticking to the 2 i know they will eat.

Re: Good quality shreaded wet food?

I know the feeling, I dont even want to think about what I´ve spent too (each time I´ve ordered from USA, 50 euros just on the transport) but I´m holding strong because his favourites are Royal canine and Hills wet. Sometimes ignorance is blessed after reading so much I can´t give them to him.

Mine have Porta 21 pouches and cans, they also enjoy Sheba Desire but only the Tuna pouches.

Yes, their dry food looks interesting but at the end of the day it is still dry food - ie. not containing enough moisture though the ingredients are kind of neat.
That's what we did with Storm and he now loves his pate food, as long as we mash it up for him!
Otherwise I could recommend Schmusy fish flavours, no kidding they have huge chunks of bloody sardines in there, the boys go wild! Is grain free too

Re: Good quality shreaded wet food?

Two of mine also scratch the floor next to food bowls when they don't want to eat it - but the action has always reminded me of the action of when they cover up their business in the litter box. I always thought they were connected - i.e. they don't think the food is good so they want to cover it up.

Re: Good quality shreaded wet food?

I have noticed Angelica scratching the floor by her bowl?? What does that mean? She doesn't like the smell? It is a metal bowl.
