Question For all you wonderful experienced cat owners please.....

........... I really need some help here.

Going to apologise for this really long post first and goodness I have never been in the cat section so much than over the past couple of weeks

Had a call from my Daughter last evening. Now She lives in an apartment complex with an underground car-park.

They had found a kitten in a dreadful state in the car park. She refused to take it in because of the Grandchildren and the state it was in so asked if I would look after it.

Today posters have been put up and vets phoned to see if owners would come forward but to be honest I very much doubt if there will be much luck there going by the state of him.

Ok....he is so skinny, just skin and bone. He was running alive with dog fleas. His coat is harsh and 'starey'.

I have flead him and started to worm him. He is eating like a horse. Has weed but no poos yet.

So thats the bits that I can deal with and know about but.......

his coat is white, looks like he will be semi-longcoated maybe???? He has a greyish cap on top of his head. Now the bit that I am stoomped about is that around his face he is very very pale orangey. I thought it was staining but am now thinking it could be his colouring as there is a tinge to his tail too.

His nose had black stuff up it that I have gently removed....it seemed dry not moist at all, almost dusty/ashy. He still has a bit across the bridge of his nose. He has a slight greyness around his mouth too. The main concern is his eyes.....they are bright and no discharge at all but along his eyelids there is black (i was going to say crustiness but its not really) but some kind of deposit. I haven't tried to clean this as not sure what to use but it seems stuck fast.

He looks awful so tiny but with huge eyes, kinda looking like a little helper monkey

Have vets appointment tomorrow if he is still here. They didn't seem to think it was an emergency as he is eating, drinking and playing (well playing when Fleur isn't attacking him)

So if anyone is still reading this and got this far firstly thankyou and secondly could you look at these pics and give any advice or thoughts on his eyes and colouring on face(whether its some sort of staining or just his colouring which I'm veering towards)

(by the way I'm crap at taking pics)

Sorry so many.

#4 shows the black on rims well

Re: For all you wonderful experienced cat owners please.....

tortie colouring so 99% going to be a girl - looks like a bleu cream (grey and cream) - the black round the eyes - not sure - looks a bit gunky in the photos but I do know of a blue cream tortie with black 'eyeliner' so it is possible. Looks pointed to with little white feet - i.e. colour on the head, legs and tail but not on the body, and yes, semi long haired by the looks of it. Shading on legs and tail and face with get darker and her mask will spread on her face as she gets older - IF she is pointed. Looks about 3-4 months old, maybe a little older.

EDIT what colour are her eyes? - if she is pointed they should be blue - if they aren't blue then she shouldn't get any darker and is more a Van patterning.

Oh gosh, I pray he makes it and if he does he is going to be a stunner!
Sorry I cant offer any constructive advice about the eyes, looks like some kind of dried on discharge...eye gunk always attracts the dirt and looks black even in a healthy cat I find.

Re: For all you wonderful experienced cat owners please.....

well done for taking in the poor little mite He does look in a sorry state and the vet appointment is an excellent idea. Hard to say for certain but it does look as if the 'mask' is natural rather than staining. The black patch is fairly common and often fades as kittens mature. The black around the eyes looks as if it may be staining, possibly flea dirt.
Good luck at the vets

Its definatly a boy....well 99% sure. Its long hair is covering and I'm finding it hard to keep still on my own.

Its about 1/3rd of the size of Fleur who is 12/13 weeks but maybe thats just because it is so mal-nourished.

My damm scales only go up too 500grammes

well I expect the grey blob will fade then as lymorelynn suggested - so not a tortie but a ginger or a cream. Still very pretty.

So do you think its ok to wait until tomorrow? He certainly isn't in pain or anything just in such a state
Yes I do think the colouring is more a 'mask'.....that is just the word for it but was trying to google a picture to show what it was like much clearer.

He was riddled with fleas so do you think its flea dirt where they have gone into his eyes and nose *shivers with revoltion*

Thanks guys for the quick answers

Re: For all you wonderful experienced cat owners please.....

Could be be grease/oil type of dirt if he was found in a underground car park which could also explain the grey mark on his head too as I would imagine it was very dirty, exhaust fume dirty and greasy oily place to be.

He is a stunning little chap, fingers and paws crossed for him.

Yes hadn't thought of that (mind was racing thinking OMG its some awful ailment especially with the slight pale orange tinge around its face)

The grey on top of his head is definatly coat colouring though.
