Unhappy help!! whats wrong with Gray???

i rescued 2 kittens. they are 11 weeks old. they've been eatin kitten food with a little fancy feast mixed in. once or twice got into the dog food and the older cats food. last week Gray started acting alittle sleepy. then she started throwing up. (this was monday night) tuesday came around and she was fine. then in the evening sher started being out of it and she threw up. (white foam) now wed and thu she was fine. playing eating. fri morning she threw up again. i got her to the vet and they gave her a 3 day worm med. Gray was acting much better. not throwing up and eating just fine. yesterday it started again. she wont eat or drink then when she feels better she kinda pigs out. we had a fecal sample done for parasites and she was negetive. now they want to test her for kitty luekemia/hiv. her health is not getting worse, its just good and bad. i was thinking of giving her some boiled chicken instead of the cat food incase she has an irritable stomach?
any ideas?
i know ive got to do the test still but i hate just sittin here waiting for the appointment.
thanks

Re: help!! whats wrong with Gray???

Try her on some cooked chicken and/or cooked white fish for say 48 hours, then gradually reintroduce her kitten food but try another brand - perhaps the Fancy Feast is too rich for her or she just has developed an allergy to it. You can add a little boiled rice to the chicken and fish. Do get her to the vet again and ask them for their further ideas.

Keep us updated.

Re: help!! whats wrong with Gray???

You could try to encourage her with some stronger smelling foods - try some boneless sardines in tomato sauce or a little oil. When giving her the chicken or fish add a couple of tablespoons of cooled boiled water over it - just to ensure she is getting some liquid and not becoming dehydrated.

Let us know how she gets on at the vets.

Re: help!! whats wrong with Gray???

My cat had a similar problem a few years ago. Are there any plants that they could get to to chew or eat? My cat was following a similar pattern of eating a lot then going of her food entirely and being sick. Turns out she was eating some of the peace lily. Hope its something simple like that!

Re: help!! whats wrong with Gray???

It may well just be a food allergy. I would take her off the Fancy Feast and slowly introduce a new food - perhaps try a hypoallergenic one. There is a Sticky in this section with information about various foods - have a look at that.
