Cat advice

Hello all,

I have been asked if I can take on 2 6 year old cats. I am considering this as they are lovely and they will be great company. One of them however kind of chews on my knuckle when I met him - he did not bite but he pushed the corner of his mouth onto my bent knuckle and start to rub the corner of him gums on me.

I have lots of cat experience so he was not just rubbing on me - it was like he was actually itching his gums!

What could this be?!

Re: Cat advice

Hello

It is not like a normal cat kiss - I saw him do it his paws aswell? Could his gums be sore?

Re: Cat advice

It might be just his unique way of interacting with humans!

If his gums were sore ( easily ascertained by examinination ) and he was doing this to provide relief, I would have expected him to be doing this more frequently on everyday objects as well.

Glad to hear you're taking on some new cats!

Re: Cat advice

One of ours does this all the time - just his way of being friendly.

Re: Cat advice

Thanks all.

I am looking forward to them moving in - but worried also that my cat who had to be put to sleep recently will think I have replaced him

He was the BEST cat ever and my life is empty without him. I am hoping my 2 new boys will stop me blooming well crying all the time! xx

Your two new boys will I'm sure fill your heart and life with lots of fun and laughter ,but there will always be the part where your loved boy rests, safe and never to be forgotten.
