is this ok weight loss for change in diet?

So, in the 6 days Shadow has had a wet instead of dry diet, she has dropped from 5.8KG to 5.4KG... Is this an ok amount to have lost in this amount of time?

I could be wrong but that sounds like quite a big loss for a cat however, as long as she is happy in herself I wouldn't worry. Dry food is much more fattening anyway so she is probably just losing the excess weight and will balance herself out

She seems to be fine, it doesnt FEEL like she's lost a lot or anything, I don't think it's an awful lot really, I thought I'd just check and see if anyone on here thinks so. I guess as in humans its easy for a cat to lose weight if they are overweight... it's when they are normal weight that it doesnt shift so easily. Seems happy though!

I only thought it was a lot because I was watching discovery the other day and an overweight cat had lost 400 grams and the vet said that was a lot and he had done really well!!!

To be honest, my moggies go up and down all the time depending on how active they are and what season we are in!

sounds like he's a bit over weight. if you're worried about the 'quickness' of the weight loss then speak to your vets. but really if he's happy and feeling better to have lost the weight i wouldn't worry! the weight loss will over all help his health in the long run! also be aware that some of it might be water weight so weight over a period of two weeks verses only 6 days. but if you are super unsure give the vets a ring.

No I'm happy with the weight loss and I think she is too, I just needed to know if it was an ok amount to be losing as I don't really know. She seems fine though and I don't think it's water weight as she was on a dry diet before and was really dehydrated! now she's FULL of water, lol

water weight as in humans doesn't necessarily come from the water we/they drink but from the fluids the organs hold or produce.
