Re: Advice please, at my wits end

the vet recomended a weak solution of salt water, and then a coating of sudocrem, but it's easier said than done, anyone tried to do this to a kitty with a sore bottom? it's really not the easiest job, but I am trying

they don't stock it in the vets as it is only a trial drug, not yet licensed for use in cats, I have to sign consent forms and fill in a kind of diary, but it is showing to be very successful in the treatment of tri tri, poor mite is going to be a guineapig, but I'm so desperate, I can't wait to try it. Fingers crossed he doesn't suffer the horrible side effects. Anyways, I'll face that problem if and when.
I'm off to bed now, thank you so much for all your concern and for being here with your advice, I may have a few more hysterical rants over the weekend.
night x

Hi Sparkx-Just had a very quick skim through the posts and if the sudacrem is a problem you could also try petroleum jelly. It's used for lubricating the thermometers and might be easier to apply especially if warmed a little! I was going to suggest you call the vets and clear it with them as well but you've already spoken to them.

I am a bit cross on your behalf with the delay in ordering but it might not take as long as that, hopefully.

Hobbs! Tut tut! Me partying? Never!

How are things this morning then? Hope things have improved.

If the diarrhea is still bad I wonder if probiotics might help. For the moment all you need is some probiotic yoghurt ( I know Sainsburys have one ) and see if that helps-a few teaspoons is all you need! It's certainly worth a try.

I know some vets prescribe them in conjunction with medication for intestinal parasites ie giardia etc

Re: Advice please, at my wits end

I didn't put any dry food down for him for the night, which I usually do, I am going to give him the bare minimum food rather than just keep the bowl full, which seems to have helped. I came down cautiously and it wasn't too bad, just a couple of plops, nothing like the morning before where it was literally everywhere.

He's still sore and still dripping bits here and there, but I think cutting back on the food for a few days might help, of course I'll keep an eye on making sure he is drinking plenty. He does look sorry for himself, but he shouldn't do, he's come to the right home, there aren't many who would be so patient about this kind of thing, it's just a good job I had laminate fitted all the way through the house just after christmas, if I still had carpet ... well! (I also have leather sofa, which of course I can bleach down too)
So things are a bit calmer this morning. I worry about them like I do my children, silly isn't it!
