FAO Howdlaloom

Raw feeding - I've tried to cost you out raw feeding if you were to use Rawto Go. Their cheapest pack is 48p for 454g. This should last your two cats a minimum of 2 days - based on around 100g each a day (between 2-3% of body weight is advised - but for kittens more) - so for a 5kg cat then they should have 100 - 150g a day. This would work out at 24p a day to feed them both. You do have to add delivery on which would add about 10p a day when averaged out. And just to be on the safe side I would give 2 or 3 prawns every other day to make sure their taurine intake is good. Say another 10p a day. So you could feed your cats for 44p a day - over the month this would be £13.50 MAXIMUM (given a long month and rounding up) - even if you gave an extra chicken wing once a week you would still be well within your £20 budget.

Is that any good for you?

Re: FAO Howdlaloom

Spid, really good effort but we have been round the houses with that poster in terms of food on the numerous threads she has made. However, perhaps your infallible logic will make a difference.

However, I would up the amount of taurine rich foods you feed.

Re: FAO Howdlaloom

Also just to be clear ... you will need at least 1 bag per day (more likely 1 and a half bags for two kittens) until they are a year old or naturally start to eat less without losing weight.

Re: FAO Howdlaloom

I didnt no prawns were rich in taurine?

Offal is ful of taurine as well isnt it? They do a choice chunks aswell. Would that be enough taurine added with the prawns?

Re: FAO Howdlaloom

You can buy Taurine powder which you mix with a little bit of water (until it dissolves) and then pour it over the meat. A 100g bag for about £4 that will last you months and months as they only need about 250mg each a day. It would be a good idea to add it this way to be totally sure they get enough Taurine, they can't overdose on it so it's a great way to put your mind at rest about it.

It is also beneficial to feed them Taurine rich foods as well, but this would reduce the need to worry too much about that

Re: FAO Howdlaloom

Well that would be 200 days worth for 1 cat, so what do you reckon?

Re: FAO Howdlaloom

What you do have to do Howdlahoom, is your own research so that you are completely satisfied with what you are doing in your own mind and not relying on others to make the decisions for you.

You need pen, paper and calculator and work it all out to your own satisfaction. The info is all out there to be found and probably in the numerous threads on here. We can all point you in the right direction but you have to do the nitty gritty yourself - especially when it comes to taurine content etc - email R2G and ask them how much is in their foods, calculate if you need to top up and by how much etc.

Otherwise, it's not fair on those giving the advice - if it went a bit wrong because you misunderstood something or got conflicting advice you might blame one of us and that's not right as we ONLY offer advice but expect you to do research yourself.
