Re: Preparing meals in advance for the fridge

Could your neighbour not do July cover as well?

If not I would just ask your friends if they would mind, as they may not want to do it every day for their cats but maybe they wouldn't mind so much if it was a rare occasion when feeding your kittens?

Nope our neighbour is on holiday that weekend.

I will ask our friends and see what they say - just wanted to know if there was anything I could do to avoid them having to come into contact with the "icky meat".

Re: Preparing meals in advance for the fridge

Gosh yes, I hated the smell of dried food when I used to feed it! I still find Grau a bit smelly at times, GranataPet is the best one, it actually smells quite nice lol

How does vegetarian food sustain a cat though, surely they would be really ill? Or is it some kind of synthetic protein?

Re: Preparing meals in advance for the fridge

My dad said it was possible to feed cats and dogs vegan food as long as you use supplements. Possible maybe... desirable? I highly doubt it! Then again he does say the cat tends to fend for herself most of the time. He lives in the middle of nowhere and she catches her own prey out and about... so maybe she doesn't fare too badly.

There must be some synthesized proteins because cats are obligate carnivores.... I.e. They cannot live on a diet without meat.

Re: Preparing meals in advance for the fridge

I have consulted Google, and found some interesting stuff lol

It seems vegetable proteins are used and a vegan website says that there is nothing to suggest that cats can't process vegetable protein s They also suggest feeding some organic crackers and organic crisps

Vegetable protein doesn't give them everything they need though. There are things they need that ONLY meat can give them.
God some people need to put their pets before them sometimes
Selfish idiots. (Not all veggies btw, just the ones feeding species inapropriate foods..)

I know, I find it really bizzare that someone would want their pet to be vegetarian purely as a lifestyle thing rather than a medical reason.

Its incredibly dangerous to feed a cat a vegetarian/vegan diet.

They are obligate carnivores, and humans should not put their views on animals onto other animals. Please please encourage him otherwise.

Anyway, I wouldnt plate up food. Mine get a bit fussy with food left in the fridge after eating half a can so I would worry yours would be the same, especially with them really needing as much food as possible at the moment.

When Ive went away for a couple of days Ive just left the boyfriend a note with what to feed and arranged the cans in order on the worktop.

Re: Preparing meals in advance for the fridge

When i had my dog bruno, i used to prepare it into meals when it arrived and freeze it into portions i could then just defrost, add supplements and feed.

It was so easy back then.
