listeless cat

Hi

We have an 18 month old girl (Scruffy) who is normally out late and we struggle to get her in at night. For the last couple of nights she's been in asleep. She's eating and drinking and her fur is ok... she's just not her normal self.

She has very short fur and we're wondering if this heat is getting to her or if it's just that she's growing up.

Not sure if we should be concerned or not. Bryn (our 2 and half year old boy) shows very clearly when he's not well as his fur goes lank... Scruff's is fine.

Are any other cats "not quite right" at the moment with this heat?

Re: listeless cat

Listless, as in lethargic? Lethargic is a sign of something very serious wrong. If she's just quieter than usual I wouldn't worry too much, just keep an eye on her and keep her inside. But if she's barely moving, showing no interest in anything get her to the vet. Same if she is not eating or drinking or using the litter box in a normal way.

Re: listeless cat

Lethargic is not good I agree. yes the heat is taking its toll but mine are still being absolutely mental in it, charging around after moths (annoying!) and just panting occasionally. Listless and lethargic is not good.

Re: listeless cat

thanks guys, we kept an eye on her ans she seems to pretty much be back to normal.

She was eating and drinking fine and going out as normal during the day... just staying in in the evening.

Will continue to keep an eye on her...

Re: listeless cat

My cat didn't come down for breakfast one day but was moping about on a dining room chair, he's always in bed, so it was a bit odd, and i panicked and thought he was dying. Took him to the vets and they didn't know what was up so he had an enema! Well if he thought about popping is cloggs, he sharp changed his mind.

Maybe the threat of an enema will sort yours out?

This really made me chuckle - I can just imagine the look on the poor cat's face!

Re: listeless cat

It was very funny watching him practically run crossed legged into the neighbours flower border.
