OMG!! How awful!! Have to say I agree ie Vet.

I changed my vet about a month ago who I had been with for 8 years as he wouldn't help me!!

Needless to say have found a fab vet who did what I wanted & are happy to work with you!!

awaiting paperwork so i can sort this out xx Had to convince Davey his sister should let me deal with it as vet told her to complain to governing body x told her i'd speak to breeder first and go from there as there's no law in not testing your cats for PKD, just alot of breeders do it so they know their cats have as healthy kittens as poss xx

Needless to say she's looking at getting a moggy to replace him and is more than likely put off having a pedigree now xx told her the offers still there on one from me xx

Still shocked really - would've never expected it xx as i always say, some angels are too good for this world, maybe there was something bigger planned for him over the rainbow bridge xxxx

Just my opinion but I would of thought as a 'breeder' you test your breeding animals to hopefully stop things like this. Just awful really really awful hugs to you hun (((()))) XX

Just to put the record straight LousKoonz was NOT the breeder of this cat. I think she bought him as a potential stud boy but decided that he was not up to it.

(I apologise if I have totally the wrong end of the stick on this but it is what I understand by the posts from page 1)

Yeah no he was potential stud boy that i brought in not long after i started breeding but just wouldn't have been up to it standard or personality wise when he grew x but he became a much loved pet of my friend xx
the breeder in question does not test her cats as far as i am aware x

Re: Kidney failure in 1yr old MC male??

What are you actually testing for if you don't mind me asking?
Is it PKD, because if it is, the DNA test will not be valid in a Maine Coon (it's only for Persians and related breeds)
