Re: Kidney failure in 1yr old MC male??

Just thought i'd update this... Alfie was PTS on wednesday (i only got a call today) and Vets diagnosis was genetic kidney disease x

awaiting paperwork so i can sort this out xx Had to convince Davey his sister should let me deal with it as vet told her to complain to governing body x told her i'd speak to breeder first and go from there as there's no law in not testing your cats for PKD, just alot of breeders do it so they know their cats have as healthy kittens as poss xx

Needless to say she's looking at getting a moggy to replace him and is more than likely put off having a pedigree now xx told her the offers still there on one from me xx

Still shocked really - would've never expected it xx as i always say, some angels are too good for this world, maybe there was something bigger planned for him over the rainbow bridge xxxx

R.I.P Alfie. At least you know the cause now and can hopefully prevent the same sort of thing if his breeder will test the others. I know how your sister feels - I didn't another Siamese after my Sushi died 5 years ago but have another one now.

Re: Kidney failure in 1yr old MC male??

Me too - very sorry to hear the sad news, but I'm thinking that the vet just saw a pedigree cat and automatically asssumed it must have inherited defects - without actually doing any testing

No i actually asked them to finish their tests and give us a proper diagnosis xx i'm currently awaiting copies of the paperwork as i wouldn't accuse (for want of a better word but it's eluding me right now but i meant that in a slightly lighter tone!!) another breeder of something i have no proof of anyway - it isn't fair xx hence i asked them to let me handle it xx

however i will be telling my friend who has his sister to get her tested just in case xx
