Flutd
Hi there. I wondered if anyone on here has had a similar experience to my own, I have a 3 year old neutered male cat who is an indoor cat and recently he suffered from a blocked bladder. He's been operated on to remove the obstruction, which is a plug formed from tiny crystals, and since then he's been following the Royal Canin Urinary SO diet exclusively however a urine sample has shown he has a considerable scattering of crystals still in his bladder. He not showing any signs of being in pain and he's peeing normally and acting normally. He is now going to try 2 months on Hills Prescription C/D. Has anyone else experienced anything like this and if so what was the best treatment?

Re: Flutd
Hello Ali,
He's currently on both. He has a measured amount of biscuit and then half a pouch twice a day as per my Vet's instructions. He's currently on the RC food but is switching to Hills to see if this dissolves the crystals any quicker. Thank you |

Re: Flutd
It sounds logical to me that they would dissolve faster if he was on a wet food only diet. It would make his urine more dilute, i.e. there would be more water in it so it would be less saturated, and everything dissolves faster in a solution that is less saturated. And vice versa, it's hard to dissolve things in an oversaturated solution.
