Fluffy's fecal Test results are finally back

They're finally back, and it's not good news. For those of you who may have missed the previous thread on this here it is:
My New Siamese Baby has an upset stomach (for 6 weeks!!)

the results have shown: Tritrichomonas foetus, Giardia, cyrptosporidium, Clostridium perfringen, which could inidicate feline corona and FIP, but as there is no test for that then there's not much I can do.

I am just trying to take it all in. I will first treat the 'easier' ones, which seem to be the Giarda, Cyrptosporidium and Clostridium, and the vet said there is a trial medication for the Tritrichomonas, a medicine with a probiotic, and it's up to me decide if I want to try it.

There is a test for FIP, but it's not conclusive, so I don't really see any point in doing that.

I am going to do what I can for him, I have a feeling this is going to be a rocky road.

I dread to think of how the other 13 maine coons this woman owned might be suffering, I am so angry with her, but for now my priority is these two.

stop the world, I wanna get off

Hopefully the medication will sort out the problem, and that will be the end of the matter. Try not to worry about coronavirus, you don't know that he has the antibodies for it and many cats in multi cat homes will carry it and seem perfectly healthy. Only a tiny percentage of cats with the virus will mutate and develop into FIP [says she who has been worried sick over Karlo who does have the coronavirus and seems to have recurring health problems].

I'll update after I see the vet tomorrow to discuss where we go from here. And of course I will worry about the FIP, you can't not really, but he's had the diarrhea for 8 weeks now and is still full of life, eating and drinking, playing and sleeping fine, so he's a strong boy, I am praying the meds will sort him and there'll be no looking back. I love him so much.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Siamese kitten. There was a good article on TF in Cat Planet mag- I believe you can get it online. There is medication for it thast is strong but will treat it. It will be slow but I hope you can get your baby back to full health xxx

Oh no thats a lot for a poor kitty to be dealing with, all you can do it treat one thing at a time and but it's a good sign that kitty is running around and bouncy.

Holy Moly, it doesn't just rain; it pours. Poor little mite. Let us know what the vet says tomorrow.

Re: Fluffy's fecal Test results are finally back

Mine isn't the siamese, he's a maine coone, the lady who posted seemed to have the same problem with her siamese, I joined in the post later on with exactly the same problem. Unfortunately the other lady hasn't yet reported back, I would so love to know how she is getting on. Thank you for your messages, I will report back when I get back tomorrow, if this info may help someone in the future then can only be a good thing.

If I am thankful for one thing it's that these things have shown positive, because the vet was talking about investigative operations if they were negative, to see if there was something congenitive(?) wrong with the bowel, and that would have been awful. (not that this isn't, but you know what I mean)

Re: Fluffy's fecal Test results are finally back

seen the vet, been given some panacur which has 100% efficacy against Giarda, and fluffs is going to go on a trial for Ronidazole, I have a few days to consider if I want to, which I think I will. The final course of treatment for Clostridium perfrigen will be put on hold to see how he goes on these other two, as the vet thinks this final bug might kind of be 'hanging on' to these other two, and may clear up once they are cleared.

He also spoke to the lab about the results concerning the feline corona and FIP, and in their opinion they don't think Fluffs has it, they said the percentage is so small it's not worth worrying about.
And the best news the vet didn't charge me for fluffs check up and consultation, so today it only cost me £6.

So all in all a better day than yesterday I'll keep you informed of fluff's progress.
