Cat dandruff!

Hi there

I've noticed that one of my cats has started to have flecks of dandruff, just along the end of her spine towards her tail. I've flea-combed her (they are both indoor cats and I have checked for fleas but nothing) and a couple of days later it is back. She hasn't been scratching, and when I look at her skin there is no sign of irritation there, the dandruff just sems to be on the ends of the fur rather than from flaky skin!

My other cat (her litter mate) doesn't have this problem and they have exactly the same diet - any ideas as to what could be causing it?

Thanks!

Re: Cat dandruff!

This may sound silly as I'm far from expert, but are you sure that it's coming FROM the cat?

If you can't see any actual skin irritation / flakes near the skin and they are instead at the end of her fur, then is it possible the cat is picking this up from somewhere else and that it's not actually dandruff?

You know what cat's are like, they get into all sorts of places some small flecks of something light coloured might appear to be dandruff.

Alternatively, this may be of some use:

Know your cat - Feline dandruff - do you call your cat 'Snowy'?
