Dental check???

Sorry for bombarding you all with yet more question.

This time is about Thomas' teeth. He doesn't seem to have any problems with his teeth at the momoment. But I am just wondering what I need to do to make sure his teeth are okay. How should I look out for when I check them?

Re: Dental check???

At the moment he still has his kitten teeth,Im sure there will be a posh name for them ,By the time he is approx 6/7 months he will have his adult teeth.I think all that you really need to check just now is that as the new adult teeth come in ,the kitten teeth fall out.You will probably not see them as most seem to be swallowed. It is a good idea to get Thomas used to you checking his mouth regularly but gently and never forcing the issue. As he gets older thats when problems can start, many on the forum give their cats raw chicken wings/raw chunks of chicken or beef to chew on which helps to keep the teeth and gums healthy,or you could start to use a pet toothbrush and paste and just clean them.Dont be fooled by the comments that dry food is good to keep teeth clean as most kibble ,unless specially designed to clean teeth will just be swallowed whole or cracked once and then swallowed. There will Iam sure be members out there with more indepth info on teeth but thats about all I can offer,Hope it helps.
