Diarrhea

On recommendation here I switched Shadow over onto a wet diet (mixed in with her usual royal canin dry food), and today she had the sloppiest runniest poop ever!! Is this normal, will her body just get used to it and firm up the poop?

Re: Diarrhea

Cats can get the runs when you change their diet, take it slow introducing new foods hopefuly that should help, but if you find the poops still runny after a few days take her back to the original diet if she was ok with it, im sure others will post their ideas for you

Re: Diarrhea

Yea, as Rottie says changing or adding foods can give cats upset tums.
I don't mix meat in with their biscuits, they stay down 24/7, I give meat separately. When adding meat I always start with tiny amonts first then gradually increase. If they get then runs, take it down again, then try increasing after a few days. Sometimes the meat just does'nt agree with them though.

Re: Diarrhea

I would think cats are like every other creatures and like a bit of a change in their diet now and then, we have found that if we do alter the diet of our cats then it does tend to make their poo runny and oh boy stinky !!! but after a day or so they are usually back to normal, i really dont think changing the diet upsets their tummies, its as you said, it just makes it very runny.. good luck with you're cats.................Chris.

Re: Diarrhea

It mayb e an intolerance to some of the ingredients inthe wet food. What food did you switch to?

Re: Diarrhea

I tried her on Tesco's premium cat food which she didn't really eat much of.... she is fine on their Finest Salmon and Chicken. She is apparently allergic to beef though, but I was careful to check there was no beef in the ingredients. I think it was actually the addition of the wet food into her diet that gave her the runs, it's her 5th day having wet food now and she's settled in fine - panic over Gonna try a tiny amount of the Premium food alongside the one she loves sometime and see if she'll take it now she's more used to wet food. I heard Tesco's premium and finest recommended by someone on here and there's a tesco's down the road so I went and got some. I might try out Applaws too sometime, the shop is much further from us though. Anyway, she's so much healthier now she's having wet food - getting the runs for a day or two was a small price to pay, LOL!
