Wabbit has a cold?

Wabbit is feeling rather sorry for himself at the moment, I think he has a cold
I now realise that Cassie had it a week ago, as her meow went all croaky and she kept swallowing funny (I thought she'd swallowed a defenceless creature funny and mildly irritated her throat! )
Well now she's fine but Wabbit has it! Is there anything I can do to ease his sore throat? He's finding it hard to swallow and keeps gagging

Also, I know colds etc aren't meant to be able pass from human to animal, however, it seems odd that the cats came down with this just as myself and the boys also had a runny nose and extremely sore throat Insane coincidence??

At least I know it'll pass in a few days if Cassie is anything to go by, I just don't like my Wabbles being ill I feel as bad as when the kids are ill

Re: Wabbit has a cold?

Since he gags I would take him to the vets today to make sure that there isn't something else irritating his throat (e.g. beesting).

Re: Wabbit has a cold?

Agree with above but considering all of you have had similar symptoms I would let the vet know of this. Agree it is odd. The gagging/sore throat need to be examined by the vet to rule out an obstruction of some sort, in the first instance.

Failing that I'm wondering abot allergy, considering you're all involved!! See what the vet says.

Re: Wabbit has a cold?

If Cassie hadn't already had it I'd be concerned about a bee sting or something, but he's indoor only (no open windows either) so it'd be pretty impossible.
If he gets any worse I'll get him in but like I said, Cassie's cleared up in a few days. He's eating and drinking and still playful

Ours was a cold, caught from a snot bag at the local park lol.... But the timing of Cassie getting it was spot on with my eldest getting it, and now Wabs has got it just as everyone else is getting better.

I'd rather he doesn't have to have antibiotics willy nilly if it's going to pass as fast as Cassies did, but don't worry I'm keeping a very close eye on him.
