Question Cat has stopped eating

Hi
Please could someone give me some advice.

Mr Tibbs has stopped eating, he is a 1y/o boy cat, always healthy and happy. late last week he wasn't eating so much, night before last he threw up a hair ball and I thought that was it however he was sick again this morning a couple of times and since then he hasn't eaten apart from one car treat which he scoffed really quickly. I kept him in today and since I've been home this evening he is desperate to go out but I can't let him. He isn't drinking anything either and hasn't been to the toilet at all today. He is quite frantic trying to get out, crying and pawing at the door.

Other than that he looks healthy, he's quite payfull and seems in good spirits.

Re: Cat has stopped eating

It's always possible he has another hairball or 2 and that this is making him uncomfortable and so doesn't want to eat, although it shouldn't be stopping him from going to the toilet. It is also possible that he has something stuck down the back of his throat such as a blade of grass and he is being sick to try and get rid of it.

Either way, I would get him checked over by the vet to make sure it is nothing more sinister.

Yes, i agree, do get him to the vet - it is dangerous for a cat to go more than 48 hours or so without eating.....can cause liver damage

thanks for the swift responses. I have no money to take him to the vet, I have left my purse at work. Do you think the vets will invoice me if I ask?

Most vets will normally be very understanding to circumstances and will normally be happy for you to pay one or two days after the consult, if necessary.

Hope he gets on OK
