Re: wet food help please
I've found with my 3 that they all have very different tastes. Though none of them will eat anything that's chunks, they will only eat pate or shreds. So trying different textures may help.
Grau is very highly thought of and can be ordered from zooplus. Mine get fed a combination of NM, Grau and Lily's Kitchen wet, with the occasional tin of Applaws as a treat as they go crazy for it. There is a sticky thread at the top of the Health and Nutrition page with an A-Z of wet foods and their relative merits, well worth a read.

Re: wet food help please
Try come Butchers Classic Orange tins. It's pretty cheap but grain free so OK nutrition wise. All my 3 like it and they're quite picky with their food, at least 1/2 of what i put down usually ends up in the bin.

Re: wet food help please
Don't get me started on cats eating habits my cat always had whiskars dry and wet, they were lovely weights and healthy. I decided that after all the brilliant reviews on here for the zoo plus foods i.e Bozita, almo nature, Animonda Carny and they wont touch any of them! They have started to lose weight and condition so i have given up and they are going back on to whiskars. I would still try these foods as nutritionally they are fantastic and have really good reviews my cats must be weird

Re: wet food help please
I think it is firstly more important that your cats actually eat something so I would suggest anything that they'll take to be a good start.
Then I would look at trying different brands to see what goes down well and what is ignored. What we think is good for them and what they actually want to eat may always be a bone of contention...![]() If you cats really do seem to prefer their dry food over wet, meaty stuff, then perhaps you could try soaking the kibbles in hot water for about 30 mins before feeding. This means that at least you can monitor how much fluid they are taking in. I've had to do this with my boys and they really like it. My new kitten has also taken to it. I currently feed RC but will be swapping soon to Orijin - on the assumption that they will like that too. ![]() Cats & Food? Can't even BEGIN to count what I have chucked away over the years due to turned up noses...... ![]()

"Right! Be like that then,...this is going straight to the ferals...at least THEY appreciate good food...etc etc" And they just look at me blankly as if to say "What's she on about? Bring on the proper food".Sigh! |

tried the 'good' foods and it went to waste got them onto classic and they loved it but then in the last week or so have both decided they dont like it (they obviously saw the full cupboard of it) the only food i can get them to eat at the moment is gormet gold tins and whiskas pouches. and i am of a mind to say s0d it and just let them have cr@p - though i make sure i give a deccent dry food to balance it abit |

Re: wet food help please
Oh the joys of trying to get your cat to eat 'good food'. My boys originally ate Whiskas Kitten and IAMS, so as they were growing we started trying them on new foods. My husband claims he has a 'sensitive nose' so he will also veto foods, much to my disgust. I started them on Bozita and one cat tolerated it (it's now his favourite and I have trouble with him scoffing it) while the other would occasionally give the jelly a lick. Almo got a no from hubby, Applaws was good but only if it was Chicken & Cheese or Chicken & Pumpkin, Smilla poultry was a no (they eat the fish one just to keep me on my toes), Hi Life wasn't even allowed in their bowls and Natures menu was OK but only for a week.
As for dry food, when we get sample bags they do everything they can to get to them, tear them open while we are asleep and then when I think "wow, they must really want this one" I buy a bigger pack, put it in their bowls and they refuse to touch it. They also show no interest in the pack ever again... After a year of sampling we are finally on Bozita Chunks/Smilla Fishpots/Grau, with both eating Smilla as their second fav and then refusing to touch one of the others. They also love the idea of raw meat but I'm still working on convincing my husband to be OK with it. At the moment they are allowed chicken providing I give it to them outside or when he isn't home and promise to mop the floors after. Applaws/Encore is an occasional treat and I'm hoping to find some nice Kangaroo meat as I've never seen a glossier coat than on a cat that eats roo. It's worth the effort when I see my big boy grunt in pleasure over a bowl of Bozita ![]() |
