I have looked at the A-Z and the Bozita cat food I mention has Chicken meal as it's first ingredient on zooplus but does not say what % I realise the other Bozita cat food have cereal as the first.

And yes I read it was big pieces but out cats would be fine with that.

SALT yes I'm talking about it being listed in the ingredients of the cat food I asked because Smilla has salt added and I would not feed them crisps So that is alright because if listed it would be a safe level??? I wouldn't mind some more opinions on this.

And thanks for all the suggestions so far

I was joking about the crisps, but mind, one of mine is partial to the odd Wotsit.

Do you have many cats to feed? It would take me forever to get through 10kg.

Yeah lol at wotzits one of ours will eat any thing he gets into new bags of food before I opened them and tipped in the container (I keep the food in a large sealed container)

And we have three large cats (all rescues in one way or another) one is more towards average size but the other two are quite big boys.

Re: Suggestions for dry cat food please.

If your cats will eat it then wet food really is much better for them.

I don't feed dry so I have no idea how long the size bag you mentioned would last but if you're looking at £20-30 a month then you can get high quality wet food for those prices, Smilla, Bozita and Grau you can get from Zooplus, even Butchers Classic that you can buy in supermarkets would be better and thats really cheap.

Re: Suggestions for dry cat food please.

Have you tried Orijen? It's more expensive that the other brands but I find totally worthy. My cat would eat every kibble put in her plate, so there's no waste at all. Other day I found a lost kibble in the bottom of the food chest and I gave her to see if she would remember it... and she did! And after she was looking for more!

(I do a rotation of Orijen, Applaws and Acana, just in case they change recipe of discontinue any of them so I don't end up in trouble. We're on Applaws Salmon turn now)

Re: Suggestions for dry cat food please.

whiskas is *horrendous* quality - it's the macdonalds/cheap processed crud of the cat world

yes a cat *can* survive on it - but you could survive on a diet consisting of processed packaged microwave meals but you're not going to be overly healthy on it are you!

Rule of thumb for all foods - pet or human, the less ingredients (especially those sounding like a science lesson) the better it is for them/you

Re: Suggestions for dry cat food please.

Thanks for all the replies.

Yep whiska's is the type of stuff I'm trying to get away from as I am feeling bad for giving them really cheap food.

To come clean and be honest what they get at the moment is mainly Omega Tasty which from memory has mainly derivatives etc.

I'll have a look at wet food but will probably get one of the dry foods mentioned on here.

Thanks again

Re: Suggestions for dry cat food please.

If you do get some wet food, i can vouch for Butchers Classic. All my 3 like it, and they're so picky with what they eat, I really struggle to get them to eat the good stuff.
whatdog likes this.
