Confused about Binders

I am currently using Renalzin for Oscar as he completely refuses to eat any renal wet food, not for the lack of trying on my part

, however he will eat RC Renal biscuits.

I don't want him to have a dry diet so I am mixing his wet food with the Renalzin. I'm just a little confused whether binders can be used long term. My vet said yes, yet the bottle says it should only be used initially for 6 months
