My Dear Old Cat is 16 and a half and drinks water all the time.
After she eats she will drink and going into the garden she will drink and so on and I know its most lightly her kidneys

I have been told that my vet could give me some tablets to help her stop doing this.....is that correct as Im sure some of you will know the answer to this please.

Any change in drinking habits must be investigated by the vet. It is more than likely her kidneys. There is no magic tablet to stop her drinking more, but there are treatments available to slow the rate of progression of kidney disease and to help support any remaining kidney function.

Sad thing with our older pets is the probs they can get with there kidney function id speak to your vet as suggested and see if they can help your cat at all.

Nothing to add really other tan I agree, some basic blood biochemistry is needed here to assess renal function, glucose a blood count.

If it is chronic renal insufficiency/failure then it would be Fortekor they are referring to. It will help support kidney function but reality is as CRF cats are in general more dehydrated (I'm not going to go in to physiological details, it's Sun evening ) then they will have a need to drink more. You will probably also notice her urination ahs increased?

OK Its sounds quite complicated but thankyou.
She goes outside to wee so not sure if she wee's more but quite possible.
At the vets tuesday so will mention the Fortekor and see what he say's.
