Re: Claws Clipped

I clipped Maisies for the first time yesterday & I dont think she's even noticed, no clawing or licking etc.

I just nipped them all off when she was sleeping

Re: Claws Clipped

To add to everyone elses comments.

I clip Oscars claws through the winter months because he really doesn't go out enough to wear them down. I take off about 2mm's - just enough to blunt them. In the summer though, he likes to sunbathe at the bottom of the garden so walking up & down the concrete path keeps them blunt.

Merson never gets his claws clipped because he's out much more than Oscar and needs them for scaling the 6ft fences and for defending himself if any other toms come into the area.

It is MORE cruel to allow your cats claws to just grow as they like than it is to clip them.

i think its different for indoor cats, my little luna isnt going to be scaling a 6ft fence. She is just about 5 months, it will become a habbit like we get our hair cut, and nails. i was simply worried about the licking and such .

Re: Claws Clipped

I don't think anyone needs to justify clipping their kitties claws Only a fool would think it were cruel compared to what discomfort our kitties feel when they get too long. Not to mention the possible injuries ... as Buffie said, they can get caught on things!

Besides my Rilly loves having hers done because it means she can paw at my chin for ages if she wants to, while I have her in my arms like a baby If they weren't trimmed I wouldn't be able to bare it
buffie likes this.
