Unhealthy kittens

A stray cat who lives in my neighbour, gave birth to three kittens. After two weeks, she brought them in my yard. This happened saturday morning. Monday morning I found one of the kittens dead, then the next wednesday, another one goes. I consulted a vet, and he said I could give it milk, but there's not much hope. I visited another vet today, and he said it could be anything and gave me some medicine to mix with milk. Kitten seems to hold strong. The vet at the store said a vaccine could help too.

Symptoms of kittens are - their eyes once were open (one of the eyes), then they were shut. They had runny nose. And won't show interest to drink milk out of their mother, who stands by them and is so caring.

I hope someone could advise me what's best to do.

Thank you very much!

Re: Unhealthy kittens

Can you take the mother cat and her remaining kitten to a vet?

Re: Unhealthy kittens

Are you in the UK? I would contact Cats Protection or such like to see if they can help.

Re: Unhealthy kittens

Sadly, I'm not in UK.

Shimacat, I went to the vet, and he gave to the remaining kitten a vaccine. According to him, there's no hope left. It's here with me in my room. It's breathing slowly, very fragile.

But again, I'm keeping my fringers crossed, and let myself believe and hope for better times to come for this kitten.

Re: Unhealthy kittens

Perhaps they caught an upper respiratory tract infection from their mother (it's possible that she carries the virus but is asymptomatic herself). Sadly there is no cure for that, one can only try to make their immune system stronger. I would advise that you have the cat spayed, lest this happen again with the next litter.

Re: Unhealthy kittens

Fingers crossed for the poor thing. Try to syringe some milk into it and pedialyte, gatorade---something that replaces electrolytes. There probably isn't much hope as they are so fragile when they're wee, but hopefully you can do something for the poor wee baby.

Re: Unhealthy kittens

Thank you all for your sympathy. Kitten didn't make it. It's at peace now with her siblings.

Re: Unhealthy kittens

I'm so sorry RIP little babies. Thank you for trying though, it's nice that someone cared to try. Is there anything you can do for the mother?

Re: Unhealthy kittens

Very sad news!
Is the mother ok?
Is there anyway you could get her to the vet to be spayed.
She came round to you to ask for your help with her kittens. She trusts you.
If she is not spayed the same thing might happen again in a few months time.

Re: Unhealthy kittens

Their mother is very upset. I left her with a very curious meow. It seems as though she's looking for kittens.

When I'm back home from work, I think she'll need for someone to cuddle her because she's probably very confused why all her kittens suddenly disappeared.
