7 Week Old runt eating concerns Please Advise

Hi, I'm new to the forums and I've been browsing around and thought this would be a good place to post my issue. Recently we received two 7 week old kittens from a family member who rescued them out of her garage attic after the momma cat was tragically hit by a car. My family member nursed the litter while trying to find them homes. We received the what is assumed to be the runt of the litter and we've been having a little trouble with him.

The bigger of the two brothers we took in seems to be healthy though we are slightly concerned at the fact that he sneezes all the time. We have as of yet not been able to get them in to see a vet. The runt is who we are having the most trouble with.

To put it simply we can barley get him to eat and when he does eat it's very little, a couple mL's at most, then he goes for hours without eating again. He is very frail and doesn't move around much unless he is going to the bathroom (which he is doing by himself) most of the time he just lays in the corner of the box he sleeps in or on mine or my mothers shoulder snuggled up to our cheeks. And it's concerning us greatly. I've looked online and have seen that since he is the runt of the litter they say to treat them as roughly 2-3 weeks behind in development, the problem being that even at 2-3 weeks behind his brothers and sisters he isn't eating nearly the same amount, and isn't active whatsoever.

Sorry if this seems a little like rambling, we are just very worried. Thank you for your time.

I think you absolutely have to get these kittens to a vet without further delay...it sounds like the runt needs top up feeding with kitten formula, and the other one may have an infection such as flu. Both kittens could go downhill very fast so there is no time to be wasted.
Please do let us know how you get on. Good luck!

well done for taking the little ones on, but it sounds like they may need a bit more than TLC and visit to the vets is on the cards.

good luck

definatly get him to the vets, you may need to syringe feed him for a while until he gets his strength.your vet will advise on formula/feed,snotty noses and sneezing can be a sign of a virus which could prove fatal if untreated

Vets please ... today and now if possible. Please don't wait any longer ... When you say he has a couple of mls at a time what do you mean? He's 7 weeks old now, he is on mostly solids right?

I appreciate you guys taking time to answer my post. Unfortunately little Sparta (the runt) passed away this morning at about 5AM. We will be getting the other one to the vet asap to work out his sneezing. We only received them over the past weekend but we grew very close to Sparta. Thank you again for taking time to reply to my post. Unfortunately it seems we were too late

Sorry to hear this! Sparta did sound very poorly though. Hopefully you'll get the other little one sorted soon.

Oh, I am very sorry to hear that news. I do hope the second kitten improves and continues to thrive.
