Question Ok to feed raw cobbler?

Is it ok to give Maisie a bit of raw river cobbler?
Cut a few bits off before cooking our dinner! Thought I'd have a wee check before giving it to her later with her tea! She's had salmon & bits of skin but I'm not sure if 'all' raw fish is fine? I'm guessing it probably is!
Thanks
Nic

I wouldn't be that worried about feeding raw fish, such as sardines, sprats, trout (heads), salmon etc once in a while (once a week or once every two weeks) as long as you make sure that they are frozen first to kill of any parasites.
Quoting Hobbs there.

Even "guests" can view threads and drive up the view count without being able to post. And comments telling people how useless they are are always a good way to get people to respond to threads -not.

Anyhow, I hope google gave you an answer. I don't even know what a "river cobbler" is but as Dante has pointed out, some fish need to be frozen first if you want them to be fed raw to kill off any potential parasites and whether the river cobbler is one of them I don't know.

Re: Ok to feed raw cobbler?

I guessed people may not know what it was although it's readily available in Tesco, Asda etc anyhow! Google did indeed help thanks & she really enjoyed it!

BSHlover: your more than welcome to post something sarcastic the cat forums renowned for it

Plus I never said you were all useless

Re: Ok to feed raw cobbler?

River cobbler is white fish, kind of like cod loin, but much cheaper. I use it in fish pie sometimes. As long as it was frozen first I imagine its fine.

Did she eat it raw?

Re: Ok to feed raw cobbler?

Yeah she had a couple of small raw pieces, she's used her litter tray twice since (she's regular as clock work) hee hee! All fine, and same as usual!

Im not planning on making it a regular thing just a treat!

We eat quite a lot of fish so it's no issue snipping a bit off before or after I cook it! We usually have cobbler in fish pie like you, but last night pushed the boat out & had it with tomatoes, capers, a fresh chilli & veg! (bit to much chilli) < that was my face lol

Re: Ok to feed raw cobbler?

I'm not sure I'd want to eat it, let alone give it to the cat I hope you didn't Google river cobbler *too* soon after eating your dinner!

I'm sure she appreciated it, and I wouldn't worry, those reports are unsusbstantiated.

Arnold wont touch raw fish, I think it's a boy thing, he likes his meat.
