Re: Raw meat

My girls have raw chicken wings which they love They're both fans of raw but I only feed it about once or twice a week. I've never had any problem with chicken. Is that salmonella you're concerned about?

Re: Raw meat

You can give the whole wing, its verh entertaining watching them drag it around and come at it from different angles. I defrost Arnold one overnight. Cats stomach acids are different to ours, they are less likely to get sick from Salmonella.

Re: Raw meat

Hi,

Newcomer here, so you can just feed raw meat, as in meat that isn't cooked or prepared or gutted, to a cat? Chicken, pork, beef, rabbit...

That sounds awesome

Re: Raw meat

I feed raw chicken a few times per week, The chicken wings go down a treat, and are much more prefared to other wet meats. I tend to feed the whole wing just chop it at the joints to make 3 smaller portions.

I also feed other meats occaisonally, depends on what the family are having, I usually take some off ours before cooking.

All the cats are in good health, have lovely coats and vets always comment on what excellent teeth they have.

I chop one into two bits - one for Mai Tai and one for Rosie, they're not fussed about which end they have. I give them to the kittens too - very good for their teeth and it's fun to watch them dragging a wing around and growling over it
As dom85 says, their digestive systems process food in a different way and salmonella is not an issue generally.

Have a look at the sticky on here
Thinking about raw feeding - a basic guide
raw food is very good for cats but the balance of nutrients has to be right if it is to be fed solely.
