Red face 10 month old kitten - opinions please

Hi this is my first post, but I would like some viewpoints please -

I have a ten month old girl torty (aww) and she was no longer liking her wet kitten food - we tried gently some adult food that was more meaty its Whiskas Oh So delicious pouches and she took to them and now has this all the time - she has had no tummy troubles and the transition from kitten to adult was great - she is now drinking water and also whiskas milk - she was on a kitten milk but she turns her nose up at that but laps up the whiskas milk (she only has this in the morning and and a night, during the day its water).

To me, I think that this has been a sucessful transition from kitten to adult diet and she is happy content active and "regular" she has also stopped using the litter tray as much she likes to go outside which I also presume is a good move - BUT

I have been "informed" by others that she should NOT on any uncertain terms be on this adult diet and that she should still be on kitten food for another 2 months - NOW personally - i think what we are doing is correct - she is growing beautifully she is wormed every month and fleaed every month and she is happy and content - please some points of view

KIND REGARDS

She could have been on adult food since she was weaned. There is no difference between kitten and adult food.

Whiskas however is a bit pants nutritionally. I would consider moving to a higher meat content diet (the wet a-z stickied above is very helpful) to really help your cat to thrive.

i found with all my cats that they will let you know when they are fed up with kitten food and if she doesnt like it then put her on adult food. harry my nfc was on adult food before he was six months old. kitten food is suppose to be higher in protein and i guess she is telling you it is time to move on. if she is happy with adult then stick with it. you sound like you are doing the right things to me

Re: 10 month old kitten - opinions please

As already said there is no need to keep her on kitten food at all. I have 2 1/2 year old and a 4 month old both eating the same food. If you look at the A-Z of wet foods you will find some good quality ones with a good percentage of meat. A lot of them are available in pet shops or supermarkets though some are only available online.
It sounds as if you going the right way about things with her

I believe its only higher in protein within the same brand (or higher in fat, one of the two)

Considering whiskas food has lower protein than most foods anyway, its not going to make much difference. A good quality adult food has all of the nutrition a kitten needs, it doesnt need anything additional.
