Re: forthglade for cats
I share your vet's view of dried food - and Iams is to be avoided anyway due to the extremely unethical testing they've done in the past. Wet food is far better as a diet for cats, but a bit of raw or cooked meat and/or fish is excellent from time to time. In wet foods, try to choose those with a high meat content (of the named meat), over 50% if possible, none of the popular brands measure up of course!

I'll let you know how oscar likes it or not. I tried him on fresh (raw) mince the other day(s)...and he wasn't interested in the slightest! He's nearly nine and been living with me for nearly three weeks now and he has the diet he had before. Iams and whiskas. He's had a bit of cooked chicken too.
I don't know what the verdict on dry food is around here but I do know of a vet who refers to it as 'b*llocks' - due to not being the natural way cats eat where they get most of their water through what they eat rather than drinking it seperately. I'm trying to not give him too much iams.
I'll see how the forthglade goes - it's at the top of my budget really. Other premium cat food would be a bit too pricey.
