Hi im new to this site and I need your help,

my cat was fine when he went out this morning but he has just come home with what looked like oil or something black on his ears so i tried to rub it off and suddenly the black blobs started to run around...
His ears are so sore it looks like these black things are bitting him, Im not sure if its fleas ..( I flea my cats very regularly with strong stuff from the vets and he was fine earlier so whatever it is its jumped on him throughout today...

Any ideas ???

This sounds somewhat strange, are you in the UK? How big are these 'black blobs'? Google pictures of fleas and ticks, do they look like either of these?

If it;'s inside the ears it sounds like it could be ear mites or fleas!
Trip to the vet as soon as possible for them to identify what it is and advise on appropriate treatment

Ear mites are tiny and can only be seen using a little scope, definitely not what I'd call black blobs running around. Sounds more like fleas or ticks. If he's given spot on regularly and he's up to date if it is fleas or ticks they should die once they bite. If not fleas or ticks not sure what else it could be.

Hi thankyou to everyone for there responses about my cat. It turned out to be thousands of fleas from the sheep in the field next to mine by the next day they had all died because of his flea stuff already on him so he is ok now . He had very sore ears I have told him not to run in the sheep fields anymore but don't think he was listening lol
