Advice on feeding

Whilst Barney has been ill i have been giving him raw mince / chicken with his meds mixed in which he wolfs down. Audrey also loves raw chicken and clears her plate when this is given.

I had tried to vary their diets by putting down applaws, hi life and NM but both will only have a sniff and lick and its left.

They do have the RC persian kitten biscuits which they both eat so i just wondered if it was ok to carry on with this diet and look at giving up the wet food totally?

Will they be getting the nutrients etc they need from the biscuits and the raw meat? Also, what other raw meat can i try them on? Audrey cant get the meat off chicken wings and legs because of her smooshy face, and i dont think Barney has the energy to try!

Any advice would be great - thank you x

Thanks Jen - will lamb chops etc be ok and can they eat turkey?

Barney has been great this weekend Running about like a little monster! He's back at the vets again tonight and we are going to discuss doing further tests to see if he has a congenital defect which is preventing him growing.

He hasnt put any weight on since i got him over a month ago. He's 5 months old now and still weighs the same as a 13 week old kitten

Bless him. Has the breeder had anything to say about his illness, you would think she would have noticed something wasnt right.

Ive used lamb loin chops, i cut the fat off though and just give them the meat, turkey is fine too

Re: Advice on feeding

the biscuits are made to be a complete diet so you're still giving them extra stuff with the mince. i wouldn't worry they sound like they are very well looked after hope they get better soon!

Re: Advice on feeding

Cats can eat any raw meat as they're obligate carnivors. One of my cats only has 2 teeth and he manages to eat just as well as the others although he can't eat the bones in chicken wings give him a 1" cube and he chews it nicely. One is now 20 years old and loves his raw meat. They'll eat the biscuits, but, put a dish of each down and the raw goes in an instant. My cats and my dog are all fed on a raw diet and they do wonderfully. The cats on average have about 100g of raw each day (1 x 450g between them) and some biscuits in the morning.
