Advice re: diet for cross breed Siamese cat
Hi All,
I recently adopted a rescued cat who is a cross breed Siamese. He is an older boy, neutered. One problem he has, which I understand is quite common in older Siamese (or half Siamese) cats, is that he passes a hard dry stool, which must be very uncomfortable for him. He is not constipated, as he has a BM once a day, fairly easily. He drinks lots of water, and eats only wet food, no dry.
The vet has put him on Peridale, a stool softener that is added to his food. He is on the max 2 caps a day, but it has not made much difference. The vet's next suggestion is to give him Liquid Paraffin every day, which I have refused, as using something so strong on a daily longterm basis can damage the cat's bowel.
Is there anyone here with a cat who has had this same problem, and if so how did you deal with it?
Thanks.
