Teething

One of my kitten owners is concerned as one of the "boys" is suffering badly through teething. She is waiting to get into the vets but can anybody suggest anything to help in the meantime. She has been freezing some of his toys and then giving them to him but we wondered if anyone knew of anyone that may help.

I remember many years (9!) ago one of my cats suffered badly and we ended up going to the vets but can't remember what they gave him.

Re: Teething

Never had this problem yet so just guessing, the only thing I can suggest lass is hard toys and bits and bobs that he can bite on like a baby would with a teething ring. What is it exactly that makes her think there are problems with them coming through? has she mentioned any particular irregularities confused:

Re: Teething

Homeopathic teething granules or tissue salts, sold for human babies, but really do work.

Re: Teething

unfortunately I have a fair bit of experience with teething problems in kittens......my red Burmese neuter boy who is now 6 yrs old suffered very badly when he was about 5 months, he tore his mouth and chin and still has the scars. When it was really bad I put an e-collar on him, used homeopathic teething granules, and gave a small dose of metacam. It continued on and off for about 10 days. Not nice at all.
I've had one or two kittens since then who've had problems although not as badly - again I've used the teething granules, also dentinox teething gel (for babies), aloe vera gel, and most recently piriton (anti histamine, also acts as a mild sedative)
The most recent incident wasn't a kitten, but a 15 month old Burmese boy who'd been neutered - after getting him home from the vet he started clawing at his mouth and didn't stop till I gave him a dose of piriton. After the second dose he was fine and never did it again. It was obviously a reaction to the anaesthetic in his case.
