Unhappy sick kitten

hello, i recently bought a tabby persian kitten 5 weeks old. it has just been three days. the first day she was sleeping the whole day. the second day in the middle of the night she started to cry ( saying meow monotonously in a painful voice) i noticed a certain depth in her voice and thought she had cold. she was shivering the whole night. i took her to the vet and he told me she is going to die and i am really upset. she had 106 fh body temperature and an upset stomach.hte vet gave her two shots of anti biotics one in the morning and the other in the evening! now its her third night in the house she has running eyes, crying again, high fever and shiverring its 3 am and the vets are closed here in my city. i am trying that she goes to sleep but she is being lethargic and yet shes standing for hours. when i try to push her and make her lay down she cries again. i think i hurts her when she tries to lie down.

i am really upset and dont know what to do PLEASE HELP!

Re: sick kitten

Cant you contact a local vets out of hours? 5weeks is to young to even be away from its mother It mosy certainly should not have left the breeder. Try and keep her warm and fed, is she toileting ok (if not that could be causing belly ache). I dont know anything about cats, So I do hope someone comes along shortly.

Re: sick kitten

Get her somewhere warm as fast as possible and call your emergency vet please. If you call the usual number there should either be someone there or an answer phone giving you another number to call. Hoping the best for the kitten but it sounds like she needs her mom Has she eaten at all? You may have to feed her a milk replacement if she isn't properly weaned.

Re: sick kitten

a 5 week old kitten is far to young to be taken away from it's mother !!! You need to get her to an out of hours vets asap, kittens this young go down hill so quickly. If you cant get hold of your own vets ring around some others they must have an out of hours. Dont want to worry you but she sounds really poorly, she should never have been taken away from mum so young

Re: sick kitten

If she is having problems toileting you need to help her by stimulating her, you can not wait to do that until tomorrow get some warm water boiled from a kettle, and with someone cotton wool and the warm water gentle rub around her bum area and belly. I would do that at least every couple of hours, if she cant go on here own. Not being able to toilet will more than likely be causing her tummy ache.
