Please Help, (Bob Martin spot on treatment for worms??)

Hi everyone, I just joined this website in hopes for serious answers. Sorry if there is another thread like this.

I have two British Shorthair cats, both around a year old.

I got this Bob Martin spot on treatment for worms thinking that it was safe and all. I put it on my cats without reviewing it. After around 10 minutes I got curious so I decided to review it. Looked at the reviews and got the fright of my life to see every single one was bad bad bad. I rushed downstairs and looked at both my cats necks. They were black!

I picked both my cats up and me and my mum spent five minutes each scrubbing our cats necks. Got all the black off and they both seem fine. But I'm still worried. One of my cats is nursing kittens. It didn't say on the leaflet that we couldn't do it while she was nursing kittens.

It was on for the max of 15 minutes before I scrubbed it off their necks using soap and warm water. She never went near the kittens when she had the treatment on.

Will they be ok?
Thank you

I can't comment on the kittens i am afraid but hopefully someone else can such as the more experienced breeders.
I'm relieved you washed it straight off when you realized, you must keep an extremely close eye on them for the next 24-48 hours and if anything suspicious happens get them to a vet asap!
Infact i would even ring them tomorrow morning to double check about the kittens in case some gets into her blood stream and into them, argh i don't even know, wish they would ban the stuff!

Thank you for your reply. I think I will call the vet tomorrow or something. They both seem fine and their skin doesn't seem to have any irritation. I feel so stupid putting this crap on my breeding queen

Unfortunately it's in the shops so people presume it's safe. It was really lucky you got it off so fast, some people leave it on and then notice after a couple days they get symptoms, so fingers crossed it hasn't had time to get into the blood stream.
It is horrifying to read some of the stories online about bad reactions but remember some cats are ok with it so hopefully yours will be fine on this occasion

Yeah, It's exactly what I thought in all honesty about it being safe. I would never forgive myself if anything happened to my cats because of this disastrous stuff. I think it's disgusting stuff like this is on sale if it is killing cats.
I'm going to wash my cats necks again. They'll hate me for it. haha

I think it's important anyone else reading this takes note and understands it's better to pay more for proper stuff from a vets rather than in a shop or supermarket, especially bob martin Bob Martin Flea Spot On For Cats Reviews | Flea and Pest Treatments | Review Centre
it's crap, someone should get it off the market!
But do let us know how your cats are tomorrow i am sure you caught it in time xxx

Yeah I used it for deworming. I've got a consultation with a vet tomorrow just incase. I'll pay for the proper stuff then. This has been a lesson indeed!! I will not be going anywhere near bob Martin again or spot on treatments. Just scrubbed my cats necks again. Will do It again tomorrow morning. I will let you know. Thanks for your answers.

How can they get away with selling this crap?scared:

I generally use Drontal for my male, who is easily pilled. For the female, I use Profender spot-on from the vet, without problems, so I assume it is OK to use. She is impossible to pill. However, I find the profender makes a bit of a sticky mess on the scruff (my cat is pure white).
