Kaisa is calling and is booked in to be spayed tomorrow

As the title says really. Kaisa is 6 months old and is calling. She was originally booked in for Monday past and the vet wouldn't do it as she had a slight temperature. Nothing came of that and she is booked in tomorrow. Now my usual vet who neutered Karlo a couple of weeks ago said he wouldn't spay Kaisa if she was calling. He's been on holiday and I spoke to one of his colleagues about her on Friday as I thought she was beginning to call which she definately is now. She said she would spay her if she was in call as with cats its difficult to get a period when they are not.
She did say that she would give her a full check over before tomorrow and would not spay if they thought there was a problem

Just wondering what everyone thought really.

Not sure on this one but I think I read somewhere that it is not recommended to spay during a season, due to a higher risk with bleeding or something along those lines. Some of the breeders will I hope be along soon and will have a much better idea on this.

Re: Kaisa is calling and is booked in to be spayed tomorrow

When Lilly was calling the vet told me to wait a week after she finished to book her in, he didnt actually say why though.

Re: Kaisa is calling and is booked in to be spayed tomorrow

There is an increased risk of bleeding when she is in heat, but in urgent cases vets will spay during this period, generally it'll cost more though. Definitely wait a week though, I can't think of an instance where a spay could possibly be urgent enough to risk anything.
