Sienna the Maine Coon and the HCM saga

Hi guys
I wanted to update you on this as you sent me some lovely well wishes when I mentioned this before.
I took Sienna back last week for them to listen to her heart again and this time the vet didn't pick up a murmur. She decided on this that we could do bloods rather than the ultrasound to see if anything comes out of that. So today I took Sienna in for her blood test. The vet was quite confident that she was going to not need sedated. She was very wrong and I actually ended up feeling sorry for the vet!

She took her through the back and came back 10 minutes later and said "well I'm afraid it looks like it isn't going to be possible today and I don't want to stress the poor girl out anymore. She got me a wee bit."

At this point I looked at her arm and she had 3 deep nasty scratches from her wrist to her elbow I thought "A WEE BIT!?" Sienna had obviously kicked with her back feet like she often does if I try to groom her or anything similar. It looked sore but the vet continued to be as lovely as ever. Sienna had also peed herself and peed all down the vets front.

Sadly this means I have to go back next week and they will have to sedate her...which has it's risks considering what we are testing for. Thankfully she won't be under long - I just feel a bit sick thinking about it.

I know if this had been any of my other cats it would have been done today, but I think the fact she was having to live with 40+ other cats and not get much attention has made her a little bit wary. She has taken her time to trust me, but now she does and she comes for cuddles.

I also just wanted to commend the vet for being so friendly and more concerned about upsetting Sienna than her arm gushing with blood!

What a lovely vet you have
I hope things go better for Sienna (and your vet ) when you take her in again and the tests come back with good results x
