Ahh, now you have experienced a common problem here....unfortunately once you have mentioned raw feeding, a lot of vets will blame every single thing on the food. Many people actually end up lying to their vet about what they feed just so they can be taken seriously!
Obviously you want to keep an eye on this, but I would certainly try some hairball remedies...cat grass or special treats...to see if this calms things down.
You could also try adding small amounts of Lecithin ( egg based is best) to his raw mix as this helps the digestion of hairballs
Yup I don't tell mine that I feed any raw. Even when I tell them I feed a variety of various wet foods I got an earful from the vet nurse (or whoever was on the reception) that I was going to give them colitis.

I love my vet but I don't listen about food.

Only becuase my boy BSH has been sick a couple of times recently and has been retching as well. I took him to the vet this morning, who seems to think it's the raw food I give him that makes him ill. However, he just retched and spat out some saliva which seems to have some of his fur in it?

Kirsty
what a load of codswallop - the raw food will not make him ill per-say - don't tell me he tried to sell you hills dry at the same time!

EDIT: ah, notice he did - don't feed it if you can get away with it! Rubbish stuff and after feeding raw you are likely to end up with squity bums! I don't tell my vets I feed raw either, they are often so blinkered!

Re: Honeys first hairball ???

So....guess who had a runny bum this morning! I swear the little man is allergic to grain (the royal canin sensitive stuff has rice in).

And the third vet I know has told me raw is bad - what do they teach these people?!

Re: Honeys first hairball ???

Benji does it on occasion but seems to swallow it and it passes the other way. I know it's simply down to the fact that he keeps chomping on Storm who is a furry boy and regardless of the amount of combing we do Benji is always playfighting and thus accidentally taking out lumps of fur
