Re: I think I will be visiting the 24hr vet
Thanks for the replies. yep it was as I feared he had a high temp (probably caused by bacteria apparantly). They gave him an injection and said for me to go to my vets this morning. Anyway I got home went to bed with Degas. He never moved all night and this morning he was trying to breath through his mouth. Popped him into the car and off to see Uncle Dermot (vet). Dermot checked him all over, his eyes are still very bad so he now has extra strong eye drops (3rd lot) and Dermot has decided that he reacts better to the injection than the tablets, so Degas will be visiting Uncle Dermot every morning for the next few days. I just feel so helpless!!!!
But the good news is that Dermot is convinced he will get over this, it is just going to take a little time. |

Ahhh, bless him. So glad you've managed to get him to the emergency vets last night and your own vets this morning and got him sorted
Hope he gets back to his normal self soon. Thanks for keeping us up to date![]() |

Re: I think I will be visiting the 24hr vet
Poor boy
He is lucky to have such a good Mum taking care of him. Hopefully now the vet knows what suits him he will be more comfortable. A friend found herself in the same position last yr with her cats, all fully vacced and indoor, all caught flu. There were some stressful days of nursing, but being in generally good health and being well looked after makes a huge difference. Hers are all fine and don't look as if they ever had a sick day in their lives.

Re: I think I will be visiting the 24hr vet
Very pleased to read that Dermot thinks Degas will make a good recovery. After this he should be able to fight off anything. Sending cyber hugs to you and little Dermot - get well soon little man.

Re: I think I will be visiting the 24hr vet
Uncle Dermot sounds like a wonderful vet. If Degas has a blocked nose, you could try moistening the air around him, either a steamy bathroom, or a damp towel over a radiator. Karvol plug ins are fab too. I have an 11 yr old who as a kitten before I got him had some sort of problem, although I only found out afterwards and never got to the bottom of it. As he has got older he has sinus issues and can sound blocked. A Karvol plug in does the business for him and helps him breath better.
I am sure with such loving care Degas will make a full recovery.
