Thanks for all good wishes. Oliver has had his treat me t, still residing at the vets at the moment, one week into his stay. They tell me that he is fine and eating well which is good news.

Well he came home last Thursday and the vet was really pleased with his levels, apparently his t4 was down from from 150-odd to 16. So that sounds good. He's really pleased to be home, and apart from shedding a lot he seems really good. He's eating more than he has for ages so here's to the future for Oliver !
