Poorly tummy... Still

Hi everyone, I posted on here a few days ago about my kittens poorly tummy. Between us we decided it was a quick change to cheap Lidls food. I moved her back to whiskers pouches and she improved almost immediately. After doing some research and reading hobbs2004's sticky on wet food (which by the way is brilliant!) I went to tescos and bought one pouch of tesco finest and one of tesco premium kitten food. I gave the the pouch of finest in the evening and the kitten one the next morning. Poorly tummy all of that day! I don't want to keep her on whiskers because it's mostly cereals but anything else seems to be upsetting her. My boyfriend thinks we should put her on boiled chicken and rice for the next couple of days to get her back to normal but do you think the same will happen as soon as I try to change her food?

Re: Poorly tummy... Still

you have to switch to new foods gradually

80% old + 20% new for a good few days, then down the percentage of the old and up the percentage of the new

If she is ok on whiskas then there is nothing wrong with that - she'll get all the nutrients she needs.

However if you want to switch, do as Tje says and make sure it is gradual to give her stomach time to adjust.

Re: Poorly tummy... Still

You have to be so careful with cats tummies. I have one with a slightly delicate tummy and numpty me picked up felix as good as it looks kitten instead of normal felix kitten pouches from the supermarket at the weekend not realising it wasn't the same thing. Looked at the ingredients and no real difference so used it and overnight my darling has had what looks like explosive diarrhoea so on the pro kolin and I've had to nip to the shop to buy some regular food. Doh!!

He's not having a good week he's the one that had only just got better from nicking a bit of banana out of the bin midweek!

My old puss used to eat everything so can't get used to this.
