Re: devastated

I feel really sorry for u hun, but u did the right thing, if she just changed her behaviour a few days ago then I wouldn't think shes been suffering. She was a good age and will have had a great life with you. It will take time to get over this as it does with any pet, but just try to remember the good times you had with her x

Re: devastated

dont feel bad hun u did the right thing and you didnt leave her to suffer at all, and 18, thats a great age, she was loved and looked after well by the sounds of things as she wouldnt of made it to 18, think yourself lucky you had a lot of years with her, as not all cats live that long,

Re: devastated

yeah was old poor thing- but 18 is a long time and some people have alot less time..
im very lucky really.. i havent lived wit her since i was 19 when i moved away from home but still saw her every week.. my mum is devsated too.. i cant believe how quick it happened.. she was a long haired black very very fluffy cat .. who always ate loads but when we took her yesterday the vet said she was soo thin...
u could feel all her bones in her body it was soo scarey my mum said that she has always been so greedy we cant undertsand how she was soo thin...
but it makes me wonder if she was in pain my mum said on monday she was playing and casing her other cats then tuesday we noticed semthing was up..
how can things happen soo quickly doesnt make sense

Re: devastated

I don't think she would have been in pain no. I asked my vet about kidney failure when I lost my Jazz to CRF. She said that they are not in pain, they just feel lousy, like having a constant hang over.

Its the hardest decision any pet owner has to make, and you always have hope beyond hope for some miracle because you love your baby so much. They have a funny way of letting you know they are ready to go and its up to us that care for them to pick that up. You did the right thing for your baby. I am very sorry for your loss.

Re: devastated

Hi hun, not seen you on for ages. I'm so sorry for your loss. She most likely did'nt suffer, as i'm sure you'd would of known something was wrong before now. You realised she was not right and you did the kindest thing for her. (((hugs)) for you.

Re: devastated

aww babe!! cat's and dogs i think have really high tolerance for their illnesses when they love you. just as we do for our loved ones. she held on as long as she could for you babe and then she let you know when she couldn't anymore. you did the right thing and i'm sure her love for you will give you peace some day. she wasn't in anymore pain than she chose to be. you did an amazingly strong thing and she will always love you no matter what even over the rainbow bridge.

Re: devastated

Yeah not been on in awhile been hetic here...
my house with all 7 cats lol
all have gone now except my first whowas the only one in the litter.. Our Willow is still here lol
all other were rehomed and are all well....
Yeah im devastated about my cat and glad yu all think she wasnt in too much pain. its awful and there isnt enough infomation out there about liver/kidney problems in animals so i thought id come here and see if any one on here had experiences like this before..
after seeing how heartbreaking i am after losing my lady im thinking maybe the three cats i have now will be the last pets i own... ive never had an animal die on me and as silly as this may sound to some its exactly like losing a family member ... i cant go through that again x

my heart goes out to everyonewho has lost any pets or anyone infact...
go hug all ur animals now .. times soo precious its something u cant get back xxxx

Ahhh, you'll be ok hun, it's so hard and yes like losing a family member.
Did you not keep any of the kittens in the end ?
