A lot of people think the abrasiveness of dry food cleans deposits from the teeth, thereby helping prevent periodontal disease, but more people are starting to dispute this.

One problem with cats is that they just don't drink a lot, even if thirsty. Feeding them dry food may not make them drink water, whereas wet food already has it in it.

However, cats love crunch. Cat's that hunt animals and birds crunch the bones, and it's part of their natural/evolutionary/biological make-up.

So put a bit of dry in with wet to give them the best of both worlds.

(If they eat it, that is!)

I've heard that feeding pregnant cats kitten food is good for them as it contains alot of extra nutrients.

You can get supplements for her from Pets at Home. I have Nourishum, just add a little to her food. It advised adding it to their FEET to lick off but Misty freaked right out when I did this, I would do as kittykat said and add some nourishum or something similar.

Re: My cat won't eat wet food!!!!!!!!!!!

Im just weaning two kittens from mum, and Im affraid to say it they both adore Whiskers! One will only eat the dry stuff the other seems to prefer the wet but has a nibble at the dry, Ive tried others but thats what they like (Felix pouches go down well too!) Mum eats both the wet and the dry and I have to say she looks really well with a lovely shinny coat. They like a bit of cooked mince too - I wonder if you could cook a bit of mince meat and tip it and the juices onto the dry food? They like evaporated milk too - they were started off on that and baby rice. I guess Whiskers isnt the best but theyre growing real well!
